#3 Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History

The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History is located in the Cultural Center of the U.S. city of Detroit, Michigan. Founded in 1965, it holds the world's largest permanent exhibit on African American culture. In 1997, Detroit architects Sims-Varner & Associates (now SDG Associates) designed a new 120,000 square foot (11,000 m²) facility on Warren Avenue[1] The Wright Museum has dual missions, serving as both a museum of artifacts and a place of cultural retention and growth.

The Museum owns more than 30,000 artifacts and archival materials. Some of the major collections it is home to include the Blanche Coggin Underground Railroad Collection, the Harriet Tubman Museum Collection, a Coleman A. Young Collection and a collection of documents about the labor movement in Detroit called the Sheffield Collection. Also in the museum is an interactive exhibit called And Still We Rise: Our Journey through African American History and Culture, seven exhibition areas devoted to African Americans and their lives, the Louise Lovett Wright Research Library, and the General Motors Theater, which is a 317-seat facility for film, live performances, lectures, and presentations. A terrazzo tile creation by artist Hubert Massey entitled Genealogy is in the Ford Freedom Rotunda Floor and the museum is topped by a 100 feet (30 m) by 55 feet (17 m) glass dome.[1] The museum store sells authentic African art and books, as well as other merchandise.

#4 Detroit Institute of Arts

Located on Woodward Avenue in Midtown Detroit, the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) houses one of the largest art collections in the United States and one of the top attractions in Detroit. Established in 1885, it contains over 100 absolutely riveting galleries and covers 658,000 square feet. Van Gogh’s celebrated Self Portrait is one of the most well known paintings in the collection.

The Detroit Institute of Arts offers several kinds of tours including daily guided tours and audio/multimedia tours like the Director’s Choice and Youth Audio Tours. #5 Show Me Detroit Tours

Whether you are visiting Detroit for the first time, a new resident who has just moved to the city, or an event planner, it’s always nice having an insider who knows all the nooks and crannies of the town to take you around. Show Me Detroit Tours are designed to cater to small groups with a maximum number of six people.

Participants spend two thrilling hours going from one attraction to another in a comfortable luxury van, and everyone is encouraged to ask questions and comment on what they see and visit. Some of the attractions on the Tour’s list include the downtown area, Campus Martius Park, Stadium & Entertainment District, Greektown, Midtown/Cultural Center, Eastern Market, RiverWalk/Rivertown, Heidelberg Project, Belle Isle, and more.

#6 Michigan Science Center

Located at the site of the former Detroit Science Center between the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Michigan Science Center (MiSci) is an innovative hands-on museum designed to present science in a fun and creative way, inspiring curious minds and allowing them to learn.

#7 Henry Ford Museum

(also known as the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, and more formally as the Edison Institute) is a large indoor and outdoor history museum complex and a National Historic Landmark in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn, Michigan, USA.[2][3] The museum collection contains the presidential limousine of John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln's chair from Ford's Theatre, Thomas Edison's laboratory, the Wright Brothers' bicycle shop, the Rosa Parks bus, and many more historical exhibits. The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village is the largest indoor-outdoor museum complex in the United States[4] and is visited by 1.6 million people each year.

#8 The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant Tour

The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant Tour takes visitors to the only “Brass Era” auto assembly plant in Detroit that is open to the public. A National Historic Landmark, the Ford Piquette Road plant was built in 1904, and it was the first factory owned by the Ford Motor Company and specifically built to manufacture the Ford. It was in that building that Mr. Ford designed his Model T and forever guaranteed himself a spot in the pages of the history.

Visitors can touch the beautiful brick walls and walk the original wood floors of the factory, which have become slightly worn since the days when workers manufactured and assembled various Ford models. You can even sit in one of the shiny old Ford beauties and take yourself back to the times of the automobile revolution. Even Mr. Ford’s office has been painstakingly preserved and is open to the public. If you are wondering what to do in Detroit on a rainy day, this is a great place to visit.

461 Piquette Street, Detroit, Michigan, Phone: 313-872-8759

#9 Campus Martius Park

Latin for “The Field of Mars,” Campus Martius Park is a two square block area that serves as the commercial heart of Detroit. After a fire in 1905, Judge Augustus Woodward chose this area to be the focal point of the efforts taken to rebuild the city. Today, this lively park is home to a seasonal ice skating rink, several public spaces that can be put to various uses, thought-provoking sculptures, and two performance stages.

Several multiple purpose spaces encompass these park features, including Compuware, One Kennedy Square Buildings, Quicken Loan Headquarters, and the Penobscot Building, a city landmark and an impressive example of historic architecture. A trip to the park will surely lead to other adventures as all of Detroit’s major avenues radiate out from Campus Martius Park.

800 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI, Phone: 313-962-0101

#10 Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit

The Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit is located in the city’s cultural center, along with the College for Creative Studies, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and Wayne State University. It is a non-collecting museum housed in a 22,000 square foot building. The building formerly served as an auto dealership, and architect Andrew Zago worked hard to preserve its historic atmosphere.

The museum constantly strives to increase appreciation for exhibits of contemporary art, which is evidenced in the many works they showcase. It also promotes education through its numerous cultural programs that include concerts, discussions, films, lectures, readings, and workshops. The museum is closed on Monday and Tuesday.

4454 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, Phone: 313-832-6622

Visitors get a fascinating behind-the-scene look at some of the popular attractions within the park and are welcome to take photos along the way. Comerica Park Tours offers public tours on both game days and non-game days, and private tours are an option for groups of 15 or more on non-game days.

Wedding Party

Hilary

Matron of Honor

Hilary and Alicia met at the Henry Ford museum and have been friends for almost 10 years now! They have seen each other through many of lifes journeys but the best one yet has been witnessing each other fall in love with Jesus, then finding real love.

Kari

Maid of honor

Alicia claimed Kari as her beloved Canadian bacon shortly after she and her family made the move to MI almost 3 years ago. Since that day they become fast friends who enjoy going out to eat, playing in each others hair and setting life goals.

Cherelle

Bridesmaid

Cherelle and Alicia met at Macy's. Lisa thought Alicia had entirely too much spunk and energy to be real, but later found out she is all smiles 95% of the time! Lisa first offered her son as the ring bearer and then later on was enthused to meet the need of her final addition to her stellar bridal party.

Chloe

Bridesmaid

Chloe is Alicia's high school friend who gladly stood in the roll as bridesmaid. Chole is very gracious and supportive and can't wait to Tallley it up!

Olivia

Flower Girl

Brand new to the Creer clan, this fiesty 1 year old of Alicia's eldest brother William and long time sister-in-law (which Alicia had the honor of standing up in their nuptuals) is looking to party it up at the #talleythatup2017 celebration. Let's pray the flowers make it out of the basket!

Liam

Ring Bearer

Liam had one job this year and it was to learn to walk before Alicia's wedding (she asked him before she was even engaged, see how her faith and foresight is set up) and he mastered it in less than 10 months! However boys will be boys and he will be about a 1 and a half years old so lets pray he makes it down the isle without any distractions.

About Us

Proposal

  • Click Here to see our Proposal Video! Totally Shocked on Father's day https://youtu.be/rmLOBzbqaG4
  • Jerome came to his parents about wanting to propose to Alicia December 2015. In his own words "I could not afford to make you wait anymore". He knew exactly the month but was torn between what day. It was either at their weekly dance lesson they share with his parents or Father's day, but Father's day was the perfect time to catch Alicia off gaurd. She was completely surprised.
  • About Us

    Our Story

Jerome: Ok here is the big story

Here is how we met, I dont remember the 1st time I saw her, but I remember she started in November 2012. We both worked at; in my opinion unfavorable office..... My 1st opinion of Alicia was she talked too much so early in the morning, it was annoying. I probably needed and attitude adjustment (whatever) Within 3-4 months I was able to tune her out, but one day we had a business breakfast at Leo's Coney Island which coincidently was the day I quit. A week later she texted me asking where I went. I explained I had a more promising opportunity and we left it at that, keeping in contact for networking purposes,

Now because this is my story I'll have you know she called me all the time after that. Obviously attracted to me!

She was leaving out of town for over a month so I decided to treat her to a movie, but not as a date. I picked her up not knowing she basically lived out of state from where I lived, but she came out of her apartment in these clothes.

What kind of clothes? These tight clothes. Leggings and heels... might have been combat boots, but I know they weren't work clothes, I was kind of impressed because she looked a lot different out of her suits she wore to work.

So we went to the movies and I tried to test her to see how she was. I asked her could I put my head on her seat... or something like that.

    Alicia: No I'm good.

I said good because I didnt want to anyway!

When she went out of town we ended up getting to know each other through the distance and months later she brought up the idea of us getting into a relationship. It wasnt time yet for me and then I asked her eventually and then she declined, but we finally got it together especially when my mom met Alicia. Mom loved her and after that she went to important family functions, coming around on a normal basis and getting to know the real me and in turn I got to know her.
